Terms of Sale

These terms apply to products bought from Sonic Truck Parts & Lubricants ("Sonic", "we", "us") at our counter, by pickup order or by delivery. If you're a business customer with a signed account agreement and it says something different, the agreement wins.

Orders and quotes

• When you place an order at checkout, we'll confirm it by text or email. If a product is out of stock, we'll contact you before filling the rest of your order, and you only pay for what we supply.
• A quote request sent through this website is a request, not a completed purchase. It becomes an order when we confirm it.
• Written quotes are good for 30 days unless the quote says otherwise.
• We may decline or limit an order, for example when stock is short.

Prices

• Prices shown on this website are counter prices for retail sizes and can change without notice. The price at the time of sale applies.
• Wholesale sizes (drums, totes and bulk) are priced by quote or by your account contract.
• Sales tax shown at checkout is an estimate at our local rate. The final tax is shown on your receipt, and any difference is adjusted.
• Prices don't include sales tax, environmental or container fees, or delivery charges, which are added where they apply.
• If a price on the website is wrong because of an error, we'll tell you before you pay and you can cancel.

Payment

• Online orders: nothing is charged on the website. Pay at the counter when you collect, or to the driver on delivery, by cash or card, or on your business account.
• Wholesale items priced by quote are paid once you've approved the price.
• Business accounts: net-30 on approved credit. Until credit is approved, orders are prepaid or paid by card.
• Overdue balances may be charged 1.5% per month, or the highest rate the law allows if lower, and we may hold further deliveries until the account is current.

Pickup and delivery

• Pickup orders are held for 3 business days, then returned to stock.
• Online delivery orders: a $15 delivery fee, free on orders over $150, with a $40 minimum, before tax. Delivery is available within our delivery area, checked by ZIP code at checkout.
• Business route delivery is free on route days for orders over $250. Next-day and off-route deliveries are quoted.
• Delivery dates are estimates. We'll let you know as soon as possible about any delay.
• Please check your order on delivery or pickup and note any damage or shortage on the delivery slip. Ownership and risk pass to you when you receive the goods.
• For bulk deliveries, you are responsible for safe access to your tank and for its condition and labeling.

Returns

• Unopened products in resalable condition can be returned within 30 days with your receipt or invoice.
• Opened products, bulk fills and special orders can't be returned unless they're defective.
• Drums and totes marked as returnable can be returned for deposit credit if they're empty, undamaged and not contaminated.

Product use and safety

• Choose products to match your vehicle or equipment maker's specifications. Our staff are happy to help, but the maker's manual has the final word.
• Safety data sheets (SDS) are available for every product we sell. Ask us for a copy.
• Store, handle and dispose of products and used oil according to the label, the SDS and local law.

Warranties

Branded products are covered by their makers' warranties, and we'll help you make a claim. We warrant that our own Sonic-brand products meet their published specifications when delivered. If a product is defective, we'll replace it or refund what you paid for it. Apart from that, and to the extent the law allows, we make no other warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about a product is limited to the price you paid for that product, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits or downtime. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Disputes will be handled in the courts of Cook County, Illinois.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version on this page when you place your order applies to that order.
